Why we ask for verification
We do not scan just any site
A scan sends hundreds of consecutive requests to a site's server. Doing that to an address whose ownership has not been proven is, from that owner's point of view, an attack — and firewalls read it the same way, even though we pay for the traffic.
So the only thing you can scan is a domain proven to be yours through Google Search Console. Most competitors do not require this; we do, deliberately.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a broken link?
- A link that leads to a page that no longer exists. The server usually answers 404 (not found) or 410 (gone). It happens when a product is deleted, an address changes, or a link is mistyped.
- Why is Search Console verification required?
- A scan sends a lot of requests to a site's server. We only do that on addresses proven to be yours, so no404 never becomes a tool that hammers someone else's site.
- Is it really free?
- One scan per verified domain is free and we do not ask for a card. Regular scanning comes as a monthly allowance in the paid plans.
- How much does the free scan cover?
- The trial scan starts at your home page, goes one step further and checks those links. Deeper scans can be selected on paid plans.
- Do I need to add code to my site?
- No. Scanning works entirely from the outside. A snippet or plugin is only needed if you also want 404s redirected automatically.
- What happens after the broken links are found?
- The 404 and 410 addresses go to bulk matching; no404 finds the closest page in your live catalog and suggests the redirect for you to approve.
